The Shape of Stillness
With The Shape of Stillness, Evert presents a quietly transformative collection of five compositions for string quartet and electronics. Rooted in neoclassical minimalism, yet constantly reaching beyond it, this EP draws the listener into a world where silence breathes and simplicity becomes profound.
The opening title track The Shape of Stillness sets the tone with a meditative pace, inviting contemplation and surrender. Joy of Summer brings a gentle brightness, echoing fleeting moments of warmth and light. In Kind of a Waltz and A Descending Waltz, Evert reshapes the traditional waltz form, playing with asymmetry, gravity, and grace. The closing track, After the Conversation, is like a soft, intimate reflection that feels like a memory unfolding in slow motion.
For listeners who find peace in the music of Max Richter, Jóhann Jóhannsson, or Wim Mertens, The Shape of Stillness offers a new voice—one that whispers, but never disappears.
